Partners in Employment (PIE) Position Paper
Partners in Employment (PIE), a coalition of agencies in London and Middlesex that provide employment services for people with disabilities, has prepared a position paper highlighting the barriers facing people with disabilities. We are calling on all levels of government to work collaboratively to develop a labour market strategy for persons with disabilities, and a national strategy for disability supports.
I am sending you a PDF of our paper (click to download), because I know you care about including people with disabilities in employment and community life. I encourage you to email your local MP and MPP to let them know you support our call to action. To find your Member of Parliament, visit www.elections.ca Please feel free to use any of the information included in our paper, and to share the paper with your friends and colleagues. If you would like to obtain a draft letter of support for mailing, or cutting and pasting into your email program, please let me know. It would be much appreciated if you would copy me on any correspondence or email you send.

The Non-Profit Sector in a Place-based Policy World
The value of the non-profit sector has never been clearer. In addition to its age-old role of providing social goods and services that the market and public sectors have failed to deliver adequately, the sector is a key player in the new social policy era. So argues David Hay, Director of CPRN’s Family Network.
Hay says that despite the challenges inherent in funding regimes, reporting requirements and regulations, the sector is still a major source of social innovation. Its committed workforce, experience, knowledge, flexibility and creativity, its entrepreneurial capacity and its holistic approach are its strengths. Hay suggests that non-profits are well placed to play an increasingly important part in place-based policies of the future.
