Call for Proposal Process

ONESTEP continues to advocate on behalf of members and follow this situation closely. We are working with ACTEW and OAYEC to gather issues that organizations face with this new challenge. If you have an issue pertaining to the upcoming CFPs, please forward these to info@onestep.on.ca.

For background information, Member Information Alerts were sent out via email March 26, June 7 and June 28th in addition to a regional alert to Toronto members on July 9th (available in the Member News section at the top of this eBulletin).

Is your agency looking for a progressive group benefits plan for your staff?

Dear ONESTEP members,

ONESTEP is again exploring the idea of working with a company to provide competitively priced health care and dental benefits and other related benefits such as RRSPs, life insurance and long term disability. The company that we are considering working with works exclusively with non-profit organizations in Canada. Please contact me if you would like more information about this association-wide plan. Send emails to me at bbeaupre@onestep.on.ca or telephone me at (416) 591-7151 x 224. Thank you. Bernadette Beaupre

Community Capacity Draining: The Impact of Current Funding Practices on Non-Profit Community Organizations

Report Synopsis
The revenues and expenditures of ten non-profit community organizations were analysed using a structured framework and common definitions. Data was collected on 155 discreetly funded programs totalling 36.5 million dollars (96% government funded). The analysis found that service programs were under-funded on average 14%. Chief areas of under funding are employee benefits, front-line supervision and core organizational functions. Agencies are using their “other income” from charitable and other sources to cover the deficits in government funded service programs. As a result, they are not able to undertake local community projects and initiatives. Unable to fundraise sufficient resources they have been reducing staffing. Salaries and benefits are down to 71% of total expenditures (in other sectors staff costs are well over 80%).
