Programs include: those that fall under ONESTEP’s mandate – pre-employment, education and training programs. Survey of Long Term Users of ERCs at Toronto Centre & Don Mills
EXCERPT FROM THE EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The goal of this project was to profile clients who have been using the Don Mills and
Toronto Centre Employment Resources Centres for three months or longer. The report
provides data from a survey undertaken with over 450 long-term ERC clients, including
question-by-question reporting, relational statements, overviews of the general
comments, and recommendations on additional services, supports, and referrals that
might be provided in order to increase the effectiveness of the ERCs in supporting
individuals to make a successful transition to employment.

In the Public Interest: Immigrant Access to Regulated Professions
Excerpt from Foreward:
This paper, “In the Public Interest: Immigrant Access to Regulated Professions in Today’s
Ontario” documents the historical roots of the current system of occupational registration in
Ontario, and provides an analysis of the lived reality of immigrants in the process of occupational
licensing. The paper makes recommendations to increase the accountability of regulatory
stakeholders in the registration process. While these focus on Ontario, the recommendations
may have applicability to other provinces and implications for national action on policy
coherence.
