Human Resource Study and Graying Strategy / Succession Planning Project March 2006
With the coming transfer of labour market program funding from the Federal to the Provincial government, there has perhaps never been a more opportune time for ONESTEP to carry out a Human Resource Study of the non-profit CBT sector in Ontario, as a follow up to our studies in 1997 and 2001.
To enhance our data, we are including:
- A Graying Strategy;
- An annotated succession planning bibliography (available here)
The study asks:
- What changes have occurred in the sector over the past five years (from the perspective of CEOs, managers and front line staff)?
- What are the sector's priorities for training/professional development - how will we help staff and management improve their capacity to deal with continued rapid changes in the sector (both policy changes and issues related to clients)?
- What are ONESTEP's priorities (e.g., the needs of smaller organizations)?
The study will benefit non-profit agencies by:
- Providing new information about the scope of the CBT sector and its parts
- Helping us understand our sector relative to others
- Promoting workplace learning
- Demonstrating the impact of training and professional development
- Assisting agencies (employers) with choosing learning opportunities
- Identifying key features of the sector's employers
- Helping to understand the circumstances and factors surrounding our HR challenges
- Identifying key features of the sector's workforce
A Project Advisory Committee has been set up to provide feedback on survey questions, key informant questions and the presentation of the final report.
